Our programs are designed according to the
individual capabilities of each child. Every resident is provided
with the opportunity to achieve to their maximum potential.
Educational opportunities are available where appropriate through community school placements and on-site Section 27 classes structured according to each child's cognitive ability. Children attending day programs are transported in Sunbeam's own specially equipped vans which are also used to take the children to a variety of community events for their participation or personal enjoyment.
We also provide on-site nursing, physiotherapy
treatment, communications programs, individualized prescribed
diets and feeding procedures. Numerous community resources are
available to meet each specific physical or medical treatment the
child may require. Various professionals, including an
optometrist, dentist, clinical nutritionalist, physician and
neurologist, visit the Lodge on a regular basis and are retained
for on-going consultation.
We believe in the importance of family involvement for the children in our care therefore families are encouraged to participate in their child's treatment program. We maintain an `Open Door` policy to accomodate family and agency visitations at any time around the clock.
