Day Program
Day Program participants include residents from Sunbeam Lodge who are 21 years of age and we also have community based adults who also attend our program. Our Day Program is offered onsite in a specifically designed room equipped to provide for all the unique and complex challenges of our adults and children. Day Program participants participate in activities that include: arts & crafts, sensory stimulation activities, games, computer, baking, community outings, Snoezlen room, nature walks, and special events.
Our program staff and volunteers ensure our program enhances each individuals well being in a nurturing and supportive environment. We aim to make each day interesting, busy and exciting for our participants.

The snoezlen room provides sensory stimulation and relaxation through a combination of relaxing, calm music, touch, sound, colour, and light. Our Snoezlen Room as well as our Sensory House provide a significant array of multi-sensory stimuli appropriate for our children to comprehend and have pleasure while enjoying their own space.
Sensory Stimulation Activities: olfactory, tactile, auditory and visual stimulation.
Arts & Crafts: range of activities from scrapbooking, special occasion’s cards, gifts (Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Birthdays & Christmas), cross stitch, painting, tissue paper crafts and seasonal crafts etc.
Computer: sensory based themes, “Tumblebooks” stories, music, and variety of interactive computer games designed with adaptive devices that allow our residents to participate and interact with everyone.
Recreation/Community Outings: integrate actively into our community by participating in recreation and leisure activities such as: movies, local malls, community parks, ice skating, bowling, grocery shopping, museums, community libraries, St. Jacob’s Market, and special events in the community (Octoberfesting, Thanksgiving parades, Canada Day events etc).
Baking: sensory stimulation, popcorn, cookies, cupcakes, birthday cakes etc
